Days in Horse Country – ANNOUNCEMENT – Horse Health and Basic First Aid
It is with great pleasure that I draw your attention to
another very worthwhile clinic. This is
a great opportunity to learn very valuable lessons from seasoned
horsefolks. Please consider availing
yourself to all of the knowledge that the clinician is so willing to share.
This particular clinic is being hosted by none other than the well-respected equine guru, Wendy Eagle, of Wellspring Equine Consulting. Wendy is, without question, the foremost authority on equine health and behavior in the Central Ontario region. Her depth and breadth of knowledge has contributed to her demand on the lecturing circuit, including that of regular guest lecturer at Equine Guelph, a program of equine studies administered by the University of Guelph's Campbell Centre for the Study of Animal Welfare.
This clinic has been designed to help us understand the basic when it comes to proper health and basic first aid. Oftentimes we are too quick to call in the vet when, if we had the basic tools to assess our horse’s health, we could treat comment ailments without the intervention of the veterinarian. Conversely it will help us identify those times when there should be no hesitation when considering more aggressive treatments. This clinic will also address issues like teaching us how to facilitate our horse’s recovery and where to find reliable, dependable, and accurate answers to our questions about horse health.
In addition to this, the clinic will specifically address the following topics of discussion:
- Assessing Health, including weight
- Vitals, taking them and understanding what they mean
- Medicinal terminology, knowing what to apply and when it is appropriate to apply it
- Equine first aid kits, knowing what yours should contain
- Boots and leg wraps
- Handling emergency situations safely
- Dependable references
- Disease prevention techniques
This informative 6 hour clinic will take place on June 21st at 1432-10th Line (North East Corner of 10th Line & 20th Sideroad) – Innisfil, Ontario and is a must for horsefolks of all levels and abilities.
